RAIPUR: A 15-year-old tribal girl in Jashpur district was gang-raped by five juveniles aged between 14 and 17 years, and they are all at large. Police launched a search to apprehend the juveniles.
The incident took place in Pathalgaon when the survivor was returning home after attending a cultural event in the village. The juveniles intercepted her and forcibly dragged her to the nearby forest. The juveniles took turns raping her while she struggled hard to free herself.
The boys threatened to kill her if she resisted or informed the police. They dumped her in the forest after committing the crime, leaving her in an almost unconscious state, and fled the spot.
The girl somehow managed to return home, and a case was lodged under the
POCSO Act and JJ Act at Pathalgaon police station for abduction, rape, and threatening the minor with dire consequences.
The investigation is underway, and a special police team has been constituted to apprehend the offenders, police said.
The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault.
